KUNEKUNE HUSBANDRY
Taking care of your KuneKune pigs through Vet Care, Hoof Care and Tusk Trimming is one the most important aspect of raising KuneKunes.
KUNEKUNE VET CARE
DO YOU HAVE A VET THAT WILL SEE PIGS AND DO A FARM CALL?
If your answer is NO then you have some work ahead of you.
This is one of the first things that you need to find PRIOR to bringing and KuneKunes onto your farm.
There are a lot of areas where a Mentor can guide you and help you even with some aspects of vet care.
BUT there are other areas that a mentor cannot.
Only vets can prescribe many of the prescription drugs you will need in certain scenarios.
A vet is the one you will call for a difficult farrowing or to help with castrations or to figure out what is wrong with a pig.
There are so endless reasons to have a good working relationship with a knowledgable vet.
On Red Roof KuneKunes clients only section, I go over vaccine protocols and well as drugs to have on hand.
One of questions that I get a lot is where and how to give an injection.
We use a slap shot to give injections of vaccines to our herd.
This method is super easy and low stress.

KUNEKUNE HOOF CARE
Hoof care is important and should be considered every 3 to 6 months as needed.
Goat hoof trimmers work well.
